SJ14 - Bubble Diagram of My Dream House

I have drawn a bubble diagram of my dream house.

My dream house is located beside a clift near a sea. It has a total of 2 floors, ground floor and lower ground floor.

SJ12 - Research & Compile 3 Buildings

I did some research and decided to do research on 3 different buildings.

First building I researched on is the Beijing National Stadium where the 2008 Olympics were held. It is located in Beijing, China. The stadium was inspired by Chinese-style pottery as the Chinese fancy irregular patterns but undernearth of the patterns are very clear rules. The stadium was designed in a circular shape as it represents heaven but was described as a bird nest.

The second building I researched on was Taipei 101. Taipei 101 is located at Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan. This building has repeated segments which was portrayed in Asian Pagodas which was believed as a tower to link earth and heaven. The building was also inspired by a stalk of bamboos which is an icon of learning and growth. The architect also took inspiration from a stalk of Chinese ingots/money which represents abundance. Taipei 101 has a total of eight floors which represents prosperity and good fortune.
The third tower I researched on is the Petronas Twin Tower. It is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This building is designed based on geometric patterns in architecture or Islamic heritage. It is composed of 2 rotated and superimposed squareswoth small circular infills. This symbol symbolizes unity, harmony, stability and rationality.

SJ11 - My Favourite Item

I sketched out a presentation board for my favourite item - my camera.

I named my camera, Pink because it is pink in colour. Its model is Nikon Coolpix S4000. It has touch screen function, 12.0 megapixel, 4 times optical zoom, and has a 3.0 inch LCD. It has a black camera cover to fit my camera in it so that Pink does not get scratched when I put it in my bag and bring it where ever I go.

SJ10 - Initial Concept of Toy Character Tower

As I have sketched out 3 tower proposals for my tower, I have chosen 'BOUNCE' as the concept of my tower.

'Bounce' can be portrayed by a something round or oval in shape and may represent playful. Playful can be portrayed by a playground. Therefore, I combined all bounce and playful concepts into my tower and thus, came out with my final tower as shown above on the right of my sketch.

SJ09 - Penang Postcards

After a study trip to Penang, we were required to sketch out 3 postcards with best resembles Penang.

On the upper left of the sketch above is a sketch of an entrance at the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion. Next to it, is the Penang clock tower which best represents Penang as it is. Below it is the Penang food street as Penang is best known for its wide variety of delicacies.

SJ08 - Proposed Location for Toy Character

In this sketch journal, I was suppose to propose an ideal location for my character's tower.

I have chosen a site shown on the sketch above. The site is located next to a walkway. This allows Lilo, Stitch's owner to visit him easily. My character tower is placed under a tree next to rocks as this potrays a Hawaiian environment. The site I chosen is located far away from the lake because Stitch is afraid of water.

SJ07 - 3 Design Towers for Character

In this sketch journal, we were required to sketch 3 different tower proposals for our choosen character. As my chosen character was Stitch, I have sketched out 3 tower proposals according to my character's characteristics. I used a slide as my main component of my tower as it gives the tower a playful touch.

My first tower was inspired by a rocket because Stitch is an alien from outer space.

My second tower is a combination of a rocket and a solar system globe.


My third tower is a combination of a rocket, an alien tower and a Hawaiian house. A rocket and an alien tower is used because Stitch is an alien. I was also inspired by a Hawaiian house because Stitch is living in Hawaii.
